Leah Gross OTR/L,
Founder and Director of Occupational Therapy Division
Becoming a mom has taught me that no one is invested in my child’s well being as much as I am. As a mom to a growing family I dream big for my children. I dream of bright futures; of happy relationships; of great achievement; and I strive to guide each child on his own path towards personal success. As an OT I’ve realized that parents of children who struggle to “make it” need a strong and skilled professional to partner with in order to make that dream a reality.
It is for that reason that The Therapy Place was born to bring equal opportunity to children who are held back from barriers that roadblock their success. I feel privileged every day that I continue to partake in actively building achievement, independence, and confidence, for I know that it is setting the foundation for the bright future I believe every child should have a chance to attain.
The joy I experience watching children develop more function gives me all the momentum I need to continue my work each day.
Alana Obuhovs
MS, CC-SLP, Director of Speech and Language Therapy
Growing up as an identical twin I’ve learned that even children who seem to be the same, are actually quite unique. After 18 years of working with children I believe stronger than ever that each child is a whole universe. As director of speech and language @ The Therapy Place I ensure that therapy targets your child’s specific challenges.
I will recognize the child’s general needs as well as pinpoint specific speech therapy needs. This enables me to direct parents to specialists in other areas of expertise such as OTs, ENTs, vision specialists, autism experts, or neurologists. I continuously draw on my varied experiences working with over 400 children of all developmental abilities.
Through the years of my professional journey, I have
- Provided speech therapy
- Supervised other therapists
- Collaborated with multimodality therapy teams
- Developed group therapy programs at
- HASC, a non profit organization that services children with a wide range of special needs. (3 years)
- Yeled V’Yalda, a therapy agency in New York (9 years)
- Rainbow therapy, Autism Support Center (8 years)
Watching young children succeed brings me the joy that keeps the spring in my step and the animation in my sessions. My passion for speech and language affords me the privileged opportunity to impact positive change in a child’s future.
